Court Sentences Quack to Three Years’ Imprisonment, Imposes Rs30,000 Fine

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate in Hyderabad has sentenced a quack to three years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs30,000 for running an unauthorized medical clinic in the city.

The judgment was pronounced by the Xth Judicial Magistrate Hyderabad against the accused, Gul Ji, who had been operating a fake medical clinic under the cover of a non-governmental organization. The court observed that the accused misled the public and endangered lives through unlawful medical practices.

According to case details, officials of the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) conducted a raid on August 4, 2025, at HRJDO First Aid Clinic located in Behan Mori, SITE Area, Hyderabad. During the raid, allopathic medicines were recovered from the premises, providing strong evidence of quackery.
Following the raid, the accused was booked under FIR No. 122/2025 registered under sections 419, 420, 170, 269 and 270 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The recovered medicines and other evidences were produced before the court during the trial.

After evaluating the evidence, the court found the charges proven and awarded three years’ imprisonment along with a fine of Rs30,000 to the accused.

The court also directed the convict to submit an affidavit, binding him not to indulge in quackery or any illegal medical practice in the future.
