KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has confirmed that a total of 9,638 dengue cases have been reported across the province so far this year, with six deaths recorded. The latest figures from the Directorate of Vector Borne Diseases show that the Hyderabad Division remains the epicenter of the outbreak, reporting 4,540 cases — nearly half of Sindh’s total.

According to the daily surveillance report, 830 new dengue cases were detected in the last 24 hours, including 421 from Karachi and 393 from Hyderabad Division. The remaining cases were spread across Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Sukkur, and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions.
Within Karachi, Korangi District recorded the highest number of total cases this year (1,224), followed by Karachi East (904) and Karachi Central (727). Karachi has so far logged 4,693 cases in total, with one death reported from Karachi East.
Hyderabad remains the most affected district overall, with 4,261 confirmed cases and five deaths reported in 2025. Other districts with noticeable case numbers include Jamshoro (131), Thatta (47), and Badin (31).
A monthly trend analysis shows a sharp surge in dengue infections from August to October 2025, when cases peaked at 8,917 in September before declining in November. Although 2025’s total (9,638 cases) is significantly lower than the record 23,274 cases reported in 2022, health experts warn that under-reporting from private hospitals may obscure the real picture.
Health officials say surveillance, fumigation, and public awareness campaigns have been intensified, but the sustained number of cases in urban areas — particularly Karachi and Hyderabad — continues to raise concerns about poor drainage, stagnant water, and ineffective vector control measures.
