Dengue cases continue to rise across Sindh — over 1,100 new infections reported in 24 hours

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has released the latest daily dengue surveillance report, confirming 1,130 new positive cases out of 5,511 tests conducted across the province during the past 24 hours.

According to the report, Karachi Division carried out 3,937 tests, with 527 cases confirmed positive, while Hyderabad Division recorded 603 positive cases from 1,574 tests.

Secretary Health Rehan Baloch stated that 129 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals, and 126 to private hospitals within the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 96 patients recovered and were discharged from government hospitals, and 111 from private facilities.

One dengue-related death was reported across Sindh during this period.

Currently, 251 dengue patients are admitted in government hospitals, and 264 are under treatment in private healthcare facilities.

To handle the growing number of cases, the Health Department has allocated 979 beds for dengue patients in government hospitals — 256 in Karachi, 165 in Hyderabad, and 558 in other districts. Private hospitals have reserved 459 beds in total — 185 in Karachi, 208 in Hyderabad, and 66 elsewhere.

The department also noted that data is being compiled from 54 laboratories conducting dengue tests across Sindh, including 37 in Karachi (12 public and 25 private) and 17 in Hyderabad Division (7 public and 10 private).

The Sindh Health Department reiterated its call for citizens to take preventive measures, eliminate mosquito breeding sites, and seek immediate medical care in case of fever or other dengue symptoms.
