Karachi: The Pakistan Cardiac Society Karachi Chapter held its inaugural session for the new calendar year at the OT Complex Conference Room, Dr. Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi. The session marked the launch of an ambitious agenda for 2025, along with the announcement of key appointments and initiatives.
The session commenced with opening remarks by Chapter Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Akram Sultan, who announced the new office-bearers for the Karachi Chapter.
Dr. Beenish Imam was nominated as Secretary of the Chapter. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali Shah was announced as Treasurer. All Council Members were officially introduced.
Dr. Muhammad Akram Sultan shared the proposed plan of activities for 2025, which aims to enhance awareness, research, and collaboration in cardiac care. The plan includes:
- Periodic Meetings of the Karachi Chapter on a rotational basis across various institutions.
- Data Collection from all tertiary care hospitals to build a comprehensive database of cardiac patients.
- Public Awareness Programs targeted at the general public and educational institutions to promote heart health.
- Collaborations and MOUs with industry partners for research and academic activities.
- Creation of a WhatsApp Group for seamless communication among members of the Karachi Chapter.
- Launch of a Monthly Digital Magazine to be edited by the newly appointed Chief Editor and Editor, highlighting the Chapter's activities and research.

Senior Professors and council members applauded the initiatives, emphasizing the importance of a cohesive and proactive approach to advancing cardiac care and education.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali Shah expressed his gratitude for the nomination and shared his commitment to ensuring financial transparency and supporting the Chapter's activities to their fullest potential.
The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by the newly appointed secretary, Dr. Beenish Imam, who acknowledged the contributions of all members and reiterated her dedication to fostering growth and innovation in cardiac healthcare through the chapter's initiatives.
