NEW YORK: In a major move to address maternal undernutrition and improve the health of mothers and newborns worldwide, Kirk Humanitarian has announced a US$50 million commitment in prenatal vitamins and minerals to be distributed across more than 60 countries through the UNICEF-led Child Nutrition Fund (CNF).
This latest in-kind contribution is expected to benefit 23 million pregnant women, providing them with essential micronutrients to support safe pregnancies and healthy birth outcomes. The initiative reinforces the belief that “investing in women is investing in the future”, particularly in the face of global food insecurity, widening health disparities, and humanitarian challenges.
The new donation follows Kirk Humanitarian’s initial US$34.4 million contribution in 2024 to UNICEF’s Improving Maternal Nutrition Acceleration Plan, which has already reached 16 million women in 16 priority countries. By the end of 2025, the organization will have delivered 16 million bottles of United Nations International Multiple Micronutrient Antenatal Preparation (UNIMMAP MMS) supplements—underscoring the expanding success of this collaboration.
Under the new initiative, countries participating in the CNF will benefit from a 1:1 matching mechanism—for every bottle of MMS purchased, they will receive an additional bottle donated by Kirk Humanitarian. This incentive aims to encourage domestic investment in maternal nutrition.
