KARACHI: Questions have been raised regarding the nursing admissions process at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) after it emerged that admission-related steps were taken before the National Testing Service (NTS) publicly uploaded test results on its official website on December 26.
According to information obtained by Health Matters, the nursing admission test was conducted by NTS, however the results were not available on the NTS website until December 26 afternoon. During this period, JPMC administration confirmed that it had already received the candidates’ list from NTS and proceeded with admissions-related actions, including placing a selected list on the JPMC website.

The development prompted concerns among candidates over their ability to verify test scores and merit positions before the admissions process moved forward.
As part of the reporting process, Health Matters obtained and reviewed an admissions-related list that was in circulation prior to the public announcement of results by NTS. While the final status of the document could not be independently verified at that stage, its circulation before official disclosure raised questions regarding transparency and sequencing in the admissions process.

Sources said that following questions raised by Health Matters with JPMC administration and NTS regarding the non-availability of results, NTS uploaded the nursing test results on its official website on December 26 evening.

A spokesperson for JPMC, responding to Health Matters, stated that NTS shared the candidates’ list with JPMC, after which the selected list was placed on the JPMC website in accordance with the formula mentioned below each result. The spokesperson added that NTS was to display the same results on its website on the next working day.
The administration further stated that candidates may approach JPMC administration with any objections or queries within seven working days.
The spokesperson identified Dr. Nousheen as the concerned director for the admissions process and conveyed that candidates with concerns may submit complaints to the administration department.
Health Matters contacted Dr. Nousheen and Prof. Khalid Sher to seek their comments on the admissions process and the timing of result disclosure. Neither had responded at the time of filing this report.
