Over 140,000 Candidates Register for MDCAT 2025 as PM&DC Reschedules Test to October 26

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced that more than 140,000 applicants have registered for the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025, which will now be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The test was initially planned for October 5 but was postponed to accommodate students in flood-affected areas.

Registration Figures by Region

According to PM&DC data, a total of 140,071 candidates have successfully registered:

  1. Punjab: 50,443 candidates (University of Health Sciences, Lahore)
  2. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 39,964 candidates (Khyber Medical University, Peshawar)
  3. Sindh: 33,160 candidates (Sukkur IBA Testing Service)
  4. Balochistan: 10,278 candidates (Bolan University of Medical & Health Sciences, Quetta)
  5. Islamabad Capital Territory: 1,146 candidates
  6. Azad Jammu & Kashmir: 3,322 candidates
  7. Gilgit-Baltistan: 1,564 candidates
  8. International Center (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia): 194 candidates

Punjab leads with the highest number of applicants, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

Conduct and Security Measures

PM&DC clarified that universities nominated by federal and provincial authorities will conduct the examination, while the Council has developed a uniform syllabus and item bank to ensure consistency.
The Council has directed all test-conducting universities to strictly follow PM&DC standards during paper setting and result declaration.
Coordination with agencies such as FIA, IB, and local police is underway to prevent paper leaks and cheating. PM&DC has warned that any malpractice will be dealt with strictly and in accordance with the law.

Advisory for Candidates

PM&DC has urged candidates to rely only on official instructions and advisories and ignore false information circulating on social media.
President Dr. Rizwan Taj encouraged students to focus on their studies, emphasizing that “hard work and merit are the only paths to success.”
He called on universities to ensure smooth arrangements across all provinces and the international center for the upcoming nationwide examination.

The MDCAT is a mandatory entry test for admission to all medical and dental colleges in Pakistan, serving as a key gateway to the healthcare profession.
