PCS karachi chapter unveils 2026 roadmap for clinical innovation

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cardiac Society (PCS) Karachi Chapter unveiled its strategic vision for 2026, focusing on clinical innovation, research-driven prevention, and institutional collaboration during a high-level session held at Tabba Heart Institute.

Titled “Clinical Innovation & Strategic Continuity,” the session brought together leading cardiologists, researchers, and healthcare stakeholders to align on a forward-looking roadmap aimed at strengthening cardiovascular care and professional standards in the country.

The proceedings were moderated by Dr. Aliya Kemal Ahsan, who also announced the launch of “The Karachi Beat,” an e-bulletin initiative designed to enhance clinical communication and disseminate latest research within the cardiology community.

Dr. Akram Sultan, serving as coordinator, outlined the chapter’s strategic direction for 2026 with emphasis on institutional growth and professional development.

General Secretary Dr. Riffat Sultana followed with a detailed operational roadmap, highlighting key activities and structural priorities for the coming year.

Addressing the clinical dimension, Dr. Bashir Hanif stressed the urgency of advancing cardiovascular prevention through research-driven programs, noting that timely intervention remains critical for impactful outcomes.

Providing academic perspective, Prof. Fawad Farooq underscored the importance of evidence-based practice and innovation in tackling evolving cardiac health challenges.

The session also highlighted inter-organizational collaboration, with Dr. Salman Ghauri of PIMA Pakistan and Dr. Ismail Memon, President PMA Karachi, reaffirming cooperation among key medical bodies to strengthen healthcare delivery.

Senior clinicians including Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Dr. Khan Shah E Zaman, Dr. Najma Patel, Dr. Khalida Somroo, Dr. Hassanat Sharif and Dr. Gul Hassan Brohi also contributed expert insights during the session.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment focusing on future workshops and collaborative initiatives, followed by closing remarks from a representative of BMJ Pakistan. Participants later gathered for a group photograph, marking a unified commitment to advancing cardiology practice in the region.
