KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has strongly condemned the violent attack on a House Officer and TMO on duty at Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, allegedly carried out by a mob of 20 to 25 individuals.
PMA Secretary General Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro said, “Doctors and paramedical staff work around the clock under extremely challenging conditions to save lives, without worrying about their own well-being. Such brutal violence against healthcare providers is not only a blatant violation of the law but also a reflection of moral decay in society.”
He further demanded immediate arrest of all individuals involved in the incident and urged authorities to ensure strict legal action against the perpetrators.
PMA called upon federal and provincial governments to provide foolproof security to doctors and medical staff across the country, particularly in emergency wards. The association also demanded that hospitals be declared “Protection Zones” to safeguard healthcare workers.
Expressing solidarity with the affected doctors and the medical community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PMA warned that failure to take immediate action and ensure security measures could lead to a nationwide protest.
