ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj has directed comprehensive reforms and administrative measures to enhance institutional efficiency, transparency and service delivery across the council.
Chairing a meeting with all Heads of Departments (HODs) in the presence of the Registrar PM&DC, the president reviewed departmental performance, operational challenges and progress on ongoing matters.
During the meeting, heads of departments presented briefings on departmental performance, pending issues, staff punctuality, operational challenges and proposed reforms. Several important decisions were taken to improve the council’s overall functioning.
The Finance Department was directed to expedite verification of financial documents related to medical and dental colleges, along with cases involving dual fee payments and fee refunds. A dedicated tracking system will be developed in coordination with the Information Technology Department for timely disposal of such cases.
The Licensing Department was appreciated for timely disposal of licensing cases; however, it was directed to further reduce pending cases by expediting renewal matters and license extension requests.
The IT Department was tasked with developing a dashboard for monitoring inspection progress and providing general updates to the Minister In-Charge. The department was also directed to establish an online inspection portal, verify information displayed on the PM&DC website and submit weekly reports on pending complaints received through the Complaint Management System.
The Legal Department was appreciated for clearing pending disciplinary cases, while the president directed that complaints involving loss of life during treatment should be handled on priority. Dedicated software solutions for legal and disciplinary sections will also be developed.
The Inspection Department was instructed to introduce digitization initiatives and develop master trainer programmes in coordination with the IT Department.
Regarding faculty records, the Faculty Department was directed to reactivate inactive faculty members, remove duplicate entries and verify active faculty data to ensure accuracy and authenticity of the database.
The Validation Department was asked to provide details of pending verifications and resolve issues related to fees deposited under incorrect heads in consultation with the IT Department.
The Experience Department was directed to improve staff efficiency, while capacity-building workshops for officers and officials will be conducted within the next four weeks.
The Examination Department was instructed to place alerts on the official PM&DC website to protect the public from fraudulent and fake MDCAT portals.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj further directed that monthly meetings with Heads of Departments will be held on the first Monday of every month. Departments were instructed to maintain strategic roadmaps, ensure timely complaint resolution and keep institutional data updated.
The president emphasized discipline, accountability and digital transformation, stating that after implementation of the Electronic File System (EFS), physical files would no longer be entertained. HODs were also directed to ensure effective workforce management.
