ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has denied reports claiming the arrest of a senior official in connection with a medical college admission scam, confirming that no officer or employee of the Council has been detained by any law enforcement agency.
According to the Council, the person arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was a driver assigned to general pool duties, a low-ranked employee with no link to admissions, registration, or policy work. Upon receiving complaints of misconduct, PM&DC immediately launched an internal inquiry, suspended the employee, and stopped his salary as per departmental procedures.
The Council said it learned of the individual’s arrest through media reports later confirmed by the FIA and assured full cooperation with the agency to ensure transparency and justice. PM&DC reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, fraud, and misuse of authority.
Clarifying its role, the Council emphasized that medical and dental college admissions are solely managed by provincial admitting universities and not by PM&DC. It termed the circulating reports as misleading attempts to damage the reputation of the national regulatory body and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining merit, integrity, and public trust in medical education.
PM&DC also advised students and parents to avoid unauthorized intermediaries and rely only on official Council platforms for accurate admission-related information.
