KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has reaffirmed his commitment to making Karachi a polio-free city, urging parents to ensure that their children receive the anti-polio vaccine.
In his message on World Polio Day, the Mayor said polio is an incurable disease, and the only way to protect children is through vaccination. He cautioned citizens against believing in false assumptions and negative propaganda, warning that doing so could endanger their children’s future.
He emphasized that the complete eradication of the poliovirus is possible only when every citizen fulfills their responsibility. “Public cooperation is vital in this fight, and administering polio drops to every child is our collective duty,” he said.
Barrister Wahab appreciated the tireless efforts of polio workers, calling them national heroes who go door to door to secure the future of Pakistan’s children. He appealed to parents to fully cooperate with vaccination teams to ensure that no child is left behind.
The Mayor said that the Sindh Government and the Health Department are working actively to eliminate the virus and protect future generations. “Raising awareness among citizens about this crippling disease is the need of the hour. A polio-free Pakistan is the foundation of a healthy and strong nation,” he concluded.
