Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman Chairs 17th Eurasia Conf. in Manila with Participation of 2K Global Scientists

KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani scientist Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman chaired the International Organizing Committee of the 17th Eurasia Conference, which concluded successfully in Manila, Philippines.

The conference, held from June 10 to 12, 2026, brought together around 2,000 scientists, researchers, innovators, policymakers, and academic leaders from across the world to discuss scientific advancements and innovative solutions to future challenges through chemistry and interdisciplinary research.

According to a spokesperson for the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, the prestigious event was attended by leading experts from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas, including two Nobel Laureates.

Addressing the opening session, Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman highlighted the importance of science, innovation, and international collaboration in achieving sustainable development, economic growth, and global prosperity.

He stressed that scientific cooperation and the exchange of knowledge among nations are essential to addressing major global challenges, including healthcare, climate change, food security, energy needs, and emerging technologies.

"The advancement of science depends on international cooperation and the free exchange of knowledge. Conferences such as the Eurasia Conference provide invaluable opportunities for scientists and innovators to work together for the benefit of humanity," Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman said.

As Chairman of the International Organizing Committee, Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman played a key role in shaping the conference agenda and promoting dialogue among scientists and innovators from around the world.

The successful conclusion of the 17th Eurasia Conference further strengthened its position as an important global platform for scientific exchange and collaboration.

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman is Pakistan’s most decorated scientist and has received the country’s four highest civil awards, including Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Hilal-i-Imtiaz, and Nishan-i-Imtiaz.

He has also received several international honors, including Fellowship of the Royal Society (London), UNESCO Science Prize, TWAS Prize for Institution Building, and Austria’s high civil award.

For his contributions to scientific cooperation with China, he was awarded the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People’s Republic of China and elected as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Several research institutions in China, Malaysia, and Pakistan have also been named in his honor, recognizing his outstanding contributions to science and international research collaboration.
