KARACHI: The SIUT Trust has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Edhi Foundation to enhance cooperation in medical, paramedic, and undergraduate technical education. The partnership will be implemented through the Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS)-SIUT, a degree-awarding institute recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The MoU was signed by Dr. Adib Rizvi, Founder of SIUT, and Mr. Faisal Edhi, CEO of the Edhi Foundation, marking a significant step toward expanding academic opportunities and strengthening collaborative development in healthcare education.

SIUT and the Edhi Foundation share a long-standing relationship rooted in humanitarian service. The Foundation has supported SIUT through several key contributions, including a donation of Rs. 100 million in 2014 for the renovation of an operation theatre, later named the Abdul Sattar and Bilquees Edhi Transplant OT Complex. It has also provided eight ambulances and two loaders to support the transport of critically ill patients at no cost.

As Pakistan continues to face rising inflation, healthcare and education have become increasingly challenging for families. Despite this, SIUT has upheld its mission to provide essential services free of charge for more than five decades.
The newly signed MoU aims to equip students with modern learning tools, exposure to emerging technologies, and hands-on clinical training. Through this collaboration, SIUT and the Edhi Foundation aim to strengthen capacity building, develop future leaders, and contribute to long-term progress in Pakistan’s healthcare and education sectors.
