SIUT launches Karachi’s first donation drive-thru facility at Trust Hospital

KARACHI: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has launched Karachi’s first donation drive-thru facility at its Trust Hospital on Shahrah-e-Faisal, introducing a structured and convenient mechanism for citizens to contribute towards free patient care.

The initiative was formally inaugurated in the presence of members of the Vintage and Classic Rally Drivers Association of Pakistan (VCRDAP), who participated in a ceremonial drive-thru donation, followed by a briefing session and a guided tour of the hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rehan Mohsin said the milestone reflected the trust and continued support of the public. He stated that the donation drive-thru facility would provide an organized and accessible option for citizens to support the treatment of patients in need.

For more than five decades, SIUT has been providing completely free, high-quality medical care and has served over 35 million patients. With sustained community backing, the institution continues to expand its services to reach underserved populations.

The SIUT Trust Hospital, established in the former Regent Plaza building owing to its central location on Shahrah-e-Faisal, is being developed as a future-ready campus integrating clinical services with academic and research activities. In addition to healthcare delivery, the facility aims to support training programmes, clinical research and the phased adoption of advanced digital technologies to improve patient outcomes.

At present, the hospital offers essential services including dialysis, lithotripsy and physiotherapy. The dialysis unit operates multiple beds daily under the supervision of experienced nephrologists and trained nursing staff using modern equipment aligned with international standards. Advanced lithotripsy procedures and comprehensive physiotherapy services are also being expanded to enhance patient care.

Through these initiatives, SIUT reaffirmed its founding principle of delivering quality healthcare with dignity, free of cost and without discrimination.
