KARACHI: The Young Nurses Association (YNA) Sindh has welcomed the approval of the Sindh Nursing Workforce Strategic Policy 2026-2040 by the Sindh Cabinet, terming it a significant step towards strengthening the nursing profession and improving healthcare services across the province.
In a statement, YNA Sindh Chairman Supreme Council Aijaz Ali Kaleri expressed gratitude to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Health Secretary Tahir Hussain Sangi, and other officials of the Sindh Health Department for recognizing the importance of the nursing profession and approving the historic policy.
He said the policy would play a vital role in improving nursing workforce planning, enhancing the quality of nursing education and training, promoting professional development, introducing licensing reforms, and expanding specialized nursing programs. He added that the initiative is expected to contribute significantly to improving the quality of healthcare services in Sindh and further strengthening the nursing profession.
However, Kaleri noted that the policy could have been made more comprehensive and effective if all nursing stakeholders, professional organizations, and representatives of the nursing community had been more actively involved during its formulation process.
He expressed hope that nursing community consultations would be ensured during the implementation phase and that further practical measures would be taken to safeguard nurses' welfare, professional growth, and rights.
