276 Dengue cases reported in Sindh this month, health department issues fresh report

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has released its latest report on confirmed dengue cases across the province, revealing that 276 new cases have been reported so far in October. This brings the total number of dengue cases in Sindh during 2025 to 920.

According to the report, Karachi remains the most affected division with 124 cases, followed by Hyderabad with 82, Mirpurkhas with 58, Sukkur with 9, Shaheed Benazirabad with 2, and Larkana with 1 confirmed case.

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho said the provincial government has intensified its anti-dengue campaign across Sindh. She said that fumigation, spray drives, and drainage improvements are being carried out in all districts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. All deputy commissioners and district health officers have been instructed to ensure that no stagnant water is left in any area, as it serves as a major breeding source for mosquitoes.

Dr. Pechuho emphasized that the government is giving equal attention to both urban and rural areas. Dedicated dengue treatment units have been established in public hospitals where patients receive free medical care and diagnostic testing.

She urged citizens to prevent water accumulation in courtyards, rooftops, and flowerpots, and to use mosquito repellents regularly. “This disease is preventable. With collective responsibility and public cooperation, we can control its spread,” she said.

The Health Minister assured that dengue monitoring teams of the Sindh government are actively working in all affected districts and reviewing the situation on a daily basis.
