KARACHI: Dengue cases continue to surge across Sindh as the provincial health department confirmed 1,192 new infections and four deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest report, 5,899 dengue tests were conducted during the period, with 4,371 from Karachi and 1,528 from Hyderabad Division. Out of these, 642 and 550 cases were confirmed positive, respectively.
Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Baloch said 109 new patients were admitted to government hospitals and 100 to private facilities. Meanwhile, 263 patients were discharged after recovery — 112 from public hospitals and 151 from private ones.
The secretary added that 4,940 dengue cases have been reported so far this month, taking the provincial total for 2025 to 10,502. Currently, 439 dengue patients are under treatment — 227 in government hospitals and 212 in private ones.
A total of 987 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in government hospitals across Sindh, including 256 in Karachi, 165 in Hyderabad, and 566 in other districts. Private hospitals have allocated 461 beds in total, with 196 in Karachi, 199 in Hyderabad, and 66 elsewhere.
The health department is currently receiving data from 55 laboratories across the province — 37 in Karachi (12 public, 25 private) and 18 in Hyderabad (7 government-run, 11 private).
Officials reiterated the importance of preventive measures and community cooperation to control the spread of dengue amid rising case numbers.
