Dr. Saddam Saleh Appointed Assistant Director of Procurement at JPMC

KARACHI: In a significant development for healthcare governance, Dr. Saddam Saleh has been appointed as the Assistant Director of Procurement at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), one of the largest tertiary care hospitals in Pakistan.

The appointment was formally approved by the Secretary Health, Government of Sindh, in consultation with the Director of JPMC. The move is being widely viewed as a welcome step towards institutional transparency, fiscal discipline, and merit-based appointments in the public health sector.

Dr. Saddam Saleh, a young and committed professional, is known for his integrity, diligence, and progressive approach to hospital administration. His selection comes at a time when JPMC’s procurement operations have been under the spotlight, following persistent allegations of irregularities and mismanagement under previous leaderships.

Healthcare professionals, including members of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Karachi, have welcomed the decision, calling it a "clean break from the past" and a "positive shift toward good governance."

“Dr. Saleh represents a new generation of leadership committed to transparency, institutional reform, and public service,” said the President of YDA Karachi. “Attempts to undermine his appointment are unjustified and counterproductive. This is a time for unity and support—not division.”

The YDA has also urged all stakeholders, both within and outside the hospital, to support the new leadership in building a procurement system that is efficient, corruption-free, and responsive to the needs of patients and medical staff.

This appointment is expected to not only restore confidence in JPMC’s procurement mechanisms but also set a precedent for other public healthcare institutions across Sindh to follow.
