Early Progress on Cooperation Between Federal Health Ministry and World Federation of Hemophilia

ISLAMABAD: An important meeting was held between senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Directorate General of Health, and representatives of the World Federation of Hemophilia to explore future cooperation for improving hemophilia and other bleeding disorder care in Pakistan.

The meeting was facilitated by the Hemophilia Welfare Society Karachi, Pakistan, and focused on potential collaboration under various World Federation of Hemophilia programs aimed at strengthening diagnosis, treatment, and public-sector support for patients across the country.

Participants included the Federal Secretary Health, the Federal Director General of Health along with senior team members, the Founder and Chief Executive of the Hemophilia Welfare Society Karachi, the Director of Development of the World Federation of Hemophilia, the Regional Manager Middle East (WFH), the President of Hemophilia Foundation Pakistan, and the President of Hemophilia Patients Welfare Society Rawalpindi.

During the discussions, key areas such as early diagnosis, access to treatment, availability of essential medicines, development of patient data systems, training and capacity-building programs, and enhancement of public-sector hemophilia services were highlighted. Participants emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to address gaps in care and ensure sustainable support mechanisms for patients.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that effective cooperation between national health authorities and international organizations would significantly improve standards of care for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders in Pakistan, while contributing to better health outcomes and an improved quality of life for affected individuals.
