KARACHI: Health Secretary Tahir Hussain Sangi paid an emergency visit to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to assess healthcare services and address pressing challenges within the facility.


During the visit, the Secretary inspected the Emergency Department, laboratory, and various wards to evaluate service delivery and operational conditions. He also interacted with doctors, paramedical staff, and patients to gain firsthand insight into on-ground issues.


Key concerns highlighted during the visit included overcrowding in the emergency department, shortage of essential medicines, delays in laboratory reporting, and the need for improved sanitation and maintenance of medical equipment.

The Health Secretary held detailed discussions with the hospital administration and emphasized immediate and practical solutions. Proposed measures included ensuring the prompt supply of essential medicines and diagnostic materials, strengthening laboratory capacity for timely test results, improving patient flow management to reduce congestion, recruiting and optimally deploying medical staff, and enhancing hygiene protocols across the facility.
Tahir Hussain Sangi reiterated the government’s commitment to improving public healthcare services, stressing the importance of accountability, efficiency, and patient-centered care. He assured that concrete steps would be taken to address the identified issues.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by the Sindh government to bring meaningful reforms in public sector hospitals and improve healthcare delivery for citizens.
