Historic Surgical Milestone at JPMC: Limb Salvaged in Rare Bone Tumor Case

KARACHI: In a landmark achievement, surgeons at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) successfully operated on a 26-year-old male patient suffering from a recurrent Giant Cell Tumor (GCT) in the proximal tibia. This marks the first-ever surgery of its kind in the history of JPMC, where the limb was salvaged and joint mobility restored through advanced surgical techniques.

The complex procedure involved a wide margin excision, followed by reconstruction using a megaprosthesis and flap, ensuring both cancer clearance and limb preservation.

Surgical Teams Involved
