KARACHI: Representatives of the Hemophilia Welfare Society Karachi Pakistan (HWSK) held a meeting with senior officials of Dr Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi to explore measures aimed at improving access to care for patients with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders in public-sector hospitals.
The HWSK delegation met with Medical Superintendent Dr Syed M. Khalid Bukhari and Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Shabana Junejo. Discussions focused on strengthening referral systems and establishing effective linkages, particularly for pediatric and gynecology cases, to ensure timely and coordinated patient management.
Both sides underscored the importance of capacity-building initiatives for healthcare providers through the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Medical Twinning Programme. The programme is designed to enhance clinical expertise and help standardize treatment protocols in line with international best practices.
HWSK Founder and Chief Executive Officer Raheel Ahmed Khan briefed participants on the organization’s annual progress and highlighted ongoing efforts to expand access to treatment through collaboration with public-sector institutions.
Dr Bukhari expressed support for joint efforts with HWSK to address gaps in service delivery and improve accessibility to comprehensive hemophilia care at the hospital.
The meeting, arranged with the support of Mr Waheed Siddiq, concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen coordination and training initiatives to enhance the quality of care for patients with bleeding disorders.
