KARACHI: The Legal Rights Forum (LRF) has successfully concluded a four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Social Accountability in Karachi. The training was held from February 18 to 21, 2026, at Hotel Mehran under the Sindh component of the Aawaz II Programme with the support of CARE Pakistan.

Participants from Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Umerkot and Malir (Karachi) attended the training, aimed at strengthening understanding and practical application of social accountability mechanisms at the community level.

The programme commenced with an introduction by LRF Programme Manager Shireen Ejaz, who outlined the objectives and background of the initiative. The inaugural session was attended by Agha Sohail, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, as the chief guest. He emphasized the importance of promoting social accountability to improve governance and service delivery.

On the second day, Rubina Brohi, Chairperson of the Sindh Commission on the Status of Women, briefed participants on gender-based violence, relevant laws and institutional responsibilities. As part of the practical component of the training, participants conducted a field visit to Rehri Goth in Malir to observe and understand local issues firsthand.

During the field visit, two key issues were identified, following which a meeting was arranged with ASP Ejaz Lahori of Sindh Police Malir. The interactive session enabled participants to raise field-related questions directly with the police representative, forming part of the workshop’s accountability and assessment exercise.
The four-day training concluded on February 21 with a closing ceremony. Provincial Minister for Women Development Shahina Sher Ali attended as chief guest and distributed certificates among participants who successfully completed the training. Representatives of partner organizations were also present at the ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to promoting social accountability across Sindh.
