IG Sindh Visits SIEHS–1122 Head Office, Agrees on Closer Collaboration for Emergency Response

KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon (PSP), along with his core team, visited the head office of Sindh Integrated Emergency & Health Services (SIEHS–1122) on Wednesday, where he was briefed on the organization’s performance, outreach across the province, and pre-hospital emergency response system.

The delegation was welcomed by Brigadier (R) Tariq Qadeer Lakhiar, CEO of SIEHS, and the senior management team. Officials informed that SIEHS, in collaboration with the Sindh Health Department, operates the 1122 ambulance service, providing timely and free-of-cost emergency medical assistance to citizens across various districts of the province.

During the visit, the IG Sindh and his team were briefed on the control room operations, emergency call handling, ambulance dispatch mechanism, and on-site medical response system. They were also taken to the fleet area, where they observed advanced life support ambulances, rapid response motorbikes, mountain bikes, and the model of a boat ambulance designed for remote waterlogged regions.

Speaking on the occasion, the IG Sindh said that in critical incidents, police and medical responders often arrive simultaneously in the public eye.

He remarked: “In most serious cases, the police mobile and ambulance reach at almost the same time. If both teams act professionally and with compassion, it sends a strong message that the state stands with the people in their difficult moments.”

Discussions also focused on ensuring unhindered movement of ambulances on highways and major roads, police support during high-risk situations, and quicker information-sharing during major incidents.

Brigadier (R) Tariq Qadeer Lakhiar introduced the field staff to the IG Sindh and briefed him on the technical and medical capabilities of the fleet. He noted that SIEHS teams often work alongside the police during emergencies, and closer coordination would further improve response time and service delivery across Sindh.

He stated: “Our responders frequently collaborate with the police. Strengthening this mutual cooperation will ensure that help reaches the people faster and in a more organized way.”

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement that both institutions will work together through joint drills, training programmes, and enhanced coordination to strengthen the emergency response mechanism in the province.
