ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has stated that coordinated and effective measures at both federal and provincial levels to eliminate polio are continuing with consistency across the country. According to the National EOC, six nationwide polio vaccination campaigns were conducted during 2025, which resulted in a significant reduction in polio cases.
The National EOC reported that the number of polio cases declined from 74 in 2024 to 30 in 2025, reflecting the positive impact of sustained vaccination drives, strong government leadership, and effective institutional coordination. It said that the tireless efforts of frontline polio workers have played a crucial role in making tangible progress towards polio eradication in Pakistan.
The EOC further noted that the active involvement of communities, religious leaders, and the media has helped build public trust in the polio programme, strengthening national efforts against the disease. It announced that the first nationwide polio vaccination campaign of 2026 will be held from February 2, during which more than 45 million children across the country will be administered polio drops.
Urging public cooperation, the National EOC appealed to parents to fully support polio teams and ensure that their children receive polio vaccines. It emphasized that every citizen has a national responsibility to play their part so that no child is left unvaccinated. Calling for collective action, the EOC said joint efforts are essential to protect every child from lifelong disability caused by polio.
