ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) on Tuesday organized a special ceremony at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) to honour frontline workers from across the country in recognition of their dedication and services in the fight against polio, ahead of the upcoming nationwide campaign.

The event, held in connection with Eid celebrations, was also virtually linked with Provincial Emergency Operations Centres (PEOCs), bringing together representatives from all provinces and regions. The ceremony provided a platform for frontline workers to share their experiences and challenges faced during field operations, particularly in reaching children in remote and high-risk areas and building trust within communities.

Frontline workers highlighted their commitment and resilience, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement with families to ensure every child is vaccinated. Their accounts reflected the critical role they play in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio.

Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza Farooq, who chaired the event, paid tribute to the frontline workforce, stating that their dedication and service remain the backbone of the programme and are instrumental in moving closer to a polio-free Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the workers. The PEI also acknowledged the support of clothing brand Generations for providing Eid packages to frontline staff.
Pakistan is set to launch its next national polio campaign from April 13, 2026, during which millions of children across the country will be administered polio drops as part of ongoing eradication efforts.
