PM&DC advises universities to ensure pre-hoc analysis of MDCAT 2025 papers

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has advised all universities conducting the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 to ensure a thorough pre-hoc analysis of examination papers in line with the prescribed syllabus and national standards.

According to a PM&DC statement, the MDCAT will be held on October 26, 2025 (Sunday), with 140,125 candidates registered to appear at 35 centers across Pakistan, including one international venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The test will be organized by five universities — the University of Health Sciences Lahore, Sukkur IBA University, Khyber Medical University Peshawar, Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences Quetta, and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad.

PM&DC clarified that while the examination is being conducted by these universities, the Council has provided them with the policy framework, structure, and access to a uniform national item bank to maintain consistency across all centers.

The universities have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to PM&DC standards during paper development, printing, and administration, maintaining full secrecy and confidentiality of the question papers, which will only be opened in the presence of official witnesses.

The statement further directed universities to align all examination content with the official MDCAT syllabus, ensuring no question is out of course or incorrect. Admit cards or roll number slips will be issued to all candidates at least seven days before the exam, while the results will be announced within one week after the test to ensure transparency and timely communication.

PM&DC emphasized that all admitting universities must make adequate arrangements to facilitate the large number of candidates nationwide and ensure the test upholds the highest academic and ethical standards.
