PPP Paramedical Wing Leaders Accuse Health Officials of Harassment, Demand Inquiry

KARACHI: Leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Paramedical Wing have accused certain officials of the Sindh Health Department of mistreating employees and carrying out retaliatory actions, urging authorities to immediately intervene and ensure accountability.

Speaking to party workers, senior leaders Hanif Awan and Kalam Khan alleged that a specific lobby was being appeased at the expense of PPP-affiliated employees, who were being deliberately targeted in teaching hospitals and district health offices across Karachi.

They said a large number of PPP Paramedical Wing workers were serving in various health facilities, but some administrative officers were allegedly victimizing them to conceal corruption and administrative irregularities. According to the leaders, these officials were portraying an “all is well” situation in official reports, while the ground reality reflected shortages of medicines and difficulties faced by patients, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.

Hanif Awan and Kalam Khan warned that if such actions were not stopped, the party would initiate a protest movement and present concrete evidence of corruption before the higher leadership.

They also called upon PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho to order a transparent departmental inquiry against the concerned officials to address growing unrest among employees and ensure better service delivery in public health institutions.

The PPP Paramedical Wing leaders reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the rights of party-affiliated employees in government service, stating that they would continue to stand by workers in line with the party’s manifesto.
