KARACHI: Sindh has successfully concluded its latest polio vaccination campaign, achieving 99 percent household coverage across the province, marking a significant milestone in efforts to protect children from poliovirus.
According to official data, a total of 10,579,243 children were vaccinated during the campaign through a combination of house-to-house and transit vaccination strategies. Of these, approximately 8.9 million children were reached through door-to-door vaccination, while 458,921 children were vaccinated at transit points including markets, transport hubs, and other public locations to ensure coverage of mobile and travelling populations.
Despite the high overall coverage, 32,947 refusal cases were recorded across the province. Programme teams addressed these cases through targeted social mobilisation and counselling efforts aimed at resolving concerns and strengthening community confidence in vaccination.
Provincial leadership and programme officials closely monitored the campaign through field visits and review meetings to assess coverage quality, operational performance, and data accuracy. These measures helped identify gaps in real time and enabled prompt corrective actions where needed.
Officials said Sindh’s performance reflects the dedication of thousands of frontline polio workers, supervisors, and social mobilisers who carried out vaccination activities under challenging conditions to ensure no child was missed.
The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Sindh reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining momentum through continued high-quality vaccination campaigns, enhanced community engagement, and close coordination with district administrations and partners. Parents, caregivers, community leaders, and local influencers have been urged to continue supporting vaccination efforts to help secure a polio-free future for Pakistan.
