KARACHI: The Sindh Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has strengthened the Karachi Action Plan for 2026 to interrupt poliovirus transmission following recommendations made in the External Audit, officials said on Monday.

The revised plan was finalized during the Karachi Bloc Strategic Consultative Workshop held on January 16 and 17, which brought together teams from Karachi Division and Hyderabad District. The workshop was supported technically and strategically by the National EOC Coordinator, the National EOC core team, and the Provincial EOC team, reinforcing a unified “One Team” approach to planning and implementation.

According to officials, the discussions focused on improving campaign readiness, enhancing the quality of field execution, accelerating efforts to identify and vaccinate missed children, and strengthening caregiver trust, particularly in high-risk union councils across Karachi.

The workshop emphasized evidence-based planning and translated key findings into a time-bound Karachi Action Plan. The plan outlines clear responsibilities, defined support mechanisms, measurable performance indicators, and a structured review process to ensure sustained progress at district and field levels.
Officials said that strong coordination between national, provincial, and district teams remains central to the strategy, with the Sindh EOC reaffirming its commitment to disciplined implementation and effective follow-through. The enhanced plan aims to protect every child from poliovirus and move Karachi, Sindh, and Pakistan closer to achieving a polio-free status.
