SIUT to launch full-fledged dialysis and lithotripsy centre on shahra-e-faisal

KARACHI: In a significant step toward expanding its free and comprehensive healthcare services, the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has announced plans to formally launch a full-fledged dialysis and lithotripsy centre in the recently acquired multi-storey building located on Shahra-e-Faisal, Karachi.

SIUT purchased the centrally located hotel building in 2024 to address the growing challenge of space shortage at its existing facilities, which have been struggling to accommodate the ever-increasing influx of patients. Soon after the acquisition, the building was converted into SIUT Trust Hospital, strategically situated on one of Karachi’s main arteries and surrounded by several prominent healthcare institutions, enabling stronger collaboration within the medical sector.

The hospital spans 13,200 square yards with a total constructed area of 47,034 square yards. It currently operates with 60 beds and conducts daily dialysis sessions. SIUT has confirmed that the number of sessions will soon be increased to 200 per day in order to provide timely and quality healthcare to a larger number of patients.

SIUT began its journey in 1971 with just eight beds at Civil Hospital Karachi. Through decades of dedication and commitment to public service, it has evolved into one of Pakistan’s leading centres for urology, nephrology, hepatogastroenterology, pediatrics (including pediatric urology, nephrology, and cardiology), dialysis, lithotripsy, and organ transplantation — the institute’s flagship service.

What sets SIUT apart is its unwavering commitment to humanitarian values. All medical services are provided completely free of cost and without any discrimination, reflecting the institute’s strong belief in dignity, equality, and accessible healthcare for all.

With the upcoming launch of the new dialysis and lithotripsy centre on Shahra-e-Faisal, SIUT is once again moving forward in its mission to serve the people of Pakistan with world-class medical care rooted in compassion and public welfare.
