KARACHI: In connection with World Stroke Day, the Neurology Awareness and Research Foundation organized free stroke screening camps across Karachi on Wednesday, in collaboration with Alkhidmat Health Foundation, Pakistan Stroke Society, and PIMA Pakistan. A large number of citizens and patients attended the camps and benefited from the free medical services.

The screening camps, held on October 29, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., aimed to raise public awareness about stroke, highlight the importance of early diagnosis, and encourage timely treatment to save lives.
This year’s global theme, “Every Moment Matters,” emphasized that every minute counts in a stroke emergency and that any delay in medical attention can be life-threatening.
According to the Foundation’s spokesperson, the camps were set up at nine locations, including Alkhidmat Hospitals in Nazimabad, North Karachi, Orangi Town, Shah Faisal Colony, and Gulshan-e-Hadid; Alkhidmat Medical Center Sakhi Hassan; Dr. Abdul Salam Medical Center; Neuro Clinic & Stroke Care (Defence Garden); and Brain & Heart Clinic (Gulistan-e-Jauhar).
Participants received free blood pressure checks, sugar and cholesterol tests, BMI assessments, and consultations with neurologists. Experts explained that stroke is treatable if diagnosed and managed promptly; however, delay can cause permanent disability or even death.
The citywide awareness drive also included informative banners, educational videos on social media, and a poster competition at Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry, where students showcased creative messages on stroke prevention.
The event’s chief guests, Prof. Dr. Rashid Naseem (Principal, Liaquat College) and Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik (President, Pakistan Stroke Society), distributed cash prizes of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000 to the top three winners.
Neurology Awareness and Research Foundation experts said the campaign aimed to build a more informed and health-conscious society, as stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability worldwide.
