KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy has commenced the inaugural two-day Naval Medicine Seminar 2025 in Karachi under the auspices of the Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) — marking a major step forward in regional naval healthcare cooperation and maritime medical readiness. The seminar is being attended by a large number of foreign delegates representing 28 WPNS member countries.

Addressing the opening session, Director General Medical Services (Navy), Surgeon Rear Admiral Rizwan Sadiq, underscored Pakistan Navy’s firm commitment to medical excellence, humanitarian assistance, and international collaboration. He highlighted the significance of knowledge sharing and strategic partnerships in elevating medical capabilities across regional navies.
Earlier, Commandant PNS SHIFA introduced the theme of the seminar and emphasized the need for innovation, leadership, and resilience in advancing modern naval medical practices. He noted that evolving maritime environments demand improved readiness, integrated medical support systems, and strengthened training standards.
The first day featured a series of professional presentations, scientific discussions, and expert deliberations. Delegates from various countries actively participated in exchanging ideas and exploring solutions to contemporary challenges in naval healthcare, preventive medicine, and operational medical support at sea.
The seminar is being viewed as a crucial platform for enhancing professional cooperation, mutual understanding, and regional medical preparedness. By promoting the exchange of best practices and expertise, the Pakistan Navy aims to reinforce collaborative mechanisms that contribute to safer maritime operations and improved medical readiness across the region.
The Naval Medicine Seminar 2025 will continue tomorrow with further technical sessions and international engagement activities.
