SICVD Hyderabad Inaugurates Renovated Emergency and Triage Facility

HYDERABAD: The Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (SICVD) Hyderabad has officially inaugurated its newly renovated Emergency and Triage Facility, marking another step forward in the institute’s mission to provide free, world-class cardiac and emergency care to the people of Sindh.

The upgraded Emergency Room now features 16 beds outfitted with state-of-the-art medical equipment, while the Triage Unit has been expanded to include 8 beds to streamline patient assessment and reduce wait times during emergencies.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Professor Jawaid Akbar Sial, Executive Director SICVD, and Dr. Muhammad Moosa, Chief Operating Officer SICVD. The event was attended by senior medical professionals, government officials, and members of the local community.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Sial highlighted the institute’s commitment to expanding access to life-saving interventions across Sindh. “SICVD Hyderabad is currently offering Primary Angioplasty, Angiography, Emergency Services, Pediatric Cardiology and Interventions, as well as Adult and Pediatric Open-Heart Surgeries — all completely free of charge, thanks to the continuous support of the Government of Sindh,” he said.

He also emphasized that SICVD has grown into the world’s largest cardiac healthcare network, currently operating 10 full-fledged cardiac hospitals and 29 Chest Pain Units throughout the province.

Looking ahead, Prof. Sial announced plans to introduce stroke treatment services in SICVD Hyderabad and Larkana, following the model of existing facilities in Sukkur and Tando Muhammad Khan. Additionally, new cardiac units are being developed in Dadu and Shahdadkot to extend services to underserved regions.

“This milestone reflects our core mission — to provide high-quality, accessible cardiac and stroke care right at the patients’ doorsteps, regardless of their ability to pay,” Prof. Sial added.

The newly upgraded Emergency and Triage departments are expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to manage critical cardiac cases with speed and precision, ultimately saving more lives across the region.
